I'm getting more and more fearful of the trend that I'd call the "simplification of human beings." The technologies people create become more and more complex, but human thoughts, discourse, and ideas turn into a mere collection of a few words/emojis/signs. We don't conceive complex theories and concepts; we are afraid of them and severely fight any attempt of their infiltration into our existence. Look! What do we generally discuss, including futures thinking forums and symposiums? Not human complexity, intriguing turns of ethical issues in the future, cultural and worldviews clashes with technological advancements, but technology!
I'm afraid that we've completely forgotten how complex we are, humans... or even worse - that we ARE humans...
I think that we humans are already certain of our complexity. If we look at robots, they consist of many individual parts, but in 2021 they are still limited to individual areas. A basketball robot will have a 100% scoring rate, but it won't be able to do more than basketball any time soon. A football robot is built quite differently. I think we are still far away from the dystopia described above (reminiscent of Blade Runner). Humans have long tried to build robots in the image of humans, but muscles and joints will always function differently from angles and machines.
A machine may be complex, but a human being is more complex.
