We are very concerned because we wonder what kind of world our children and grandchildren will grow up in. But we are much more concerned about how policymakers are dealing with climate change. The paths that are currently being taken are not effective enough to bring about the necessary changes quickly enough. COP 26 failed because the economic systems of all the nations of the world have one thing in common: a focus on national profit and growth. The necessary change in policy is still not in sight. The science has been ignored for a long time and not a single party has a reasonable concept on how to reach the Paris climate target. Because, neither the EU-ETS nor CO2 pricing have proven to be suitable tools - emissions are increasing year by year and have never been as high as they are today! Climate protection is more urgent than ever, but due to ever new events of global significance, it is increasingly being pushed into the background - with consequences of hardly assessable scope. Of course, there are measures and regulations to manage climate change. However, for various reasons, both institutional and personal, these are far from sufficient. The window for action is closing visibly before irreversible tipping points occur. Future generations will have to pay the price for our inadequate actions today, already in a few decades. Therefore, an answer is urgently needed that can ensure that the climate target is met, detached from the entanglements between politics, lobbying and industry. The climate currency ECO would be such a solution!
